Winterville Sounds is a creative exercise in hypothetical gift shop collateral. This example explores the idea that there exists an audio cassette tape series containting narration about the museum, helpful facts about the site, as well as audio samples from early instrumental music, such as from early musical instruments and songs from Native American, African American, and Euro-American traditions.

Although no such item exists, this example is meant to envision new ways we can apply a body of imagery created for the museum’s identity with everyday items that become part of its new timeless persona.

The Galloway Mural

The mural at Galloway, the largest of its kind in Jackson, MS was inspired by the student’s favorite fruits and veggies from an engagement exercise held during the Back to School night hosted by the PTA. The mural is titled “This is Fertile Ground” and outlines the opportunity that JPS schools have to incorporate farm to school practices into the school system. The mural demonstrates the process of food from the ground to the harvest to the plate.
